Meet Mrs. Taptich
Hello and welcome. I am truly looking forward to the growth, fun and learning that are about to take place in Room 120. This will be my 13th year as a MNMS 6th grade teacher on the Blue Team. I have been employed in the District for 29 years as a 3rd/4th grade teacher at Fairmount Avenue and Ferguson Township Elementary Schools, and subsequently, as an Elementary Math and Science Curriculum Support Teacher.
I grew up in western Pennsylvania, which automatically makes me a loyal fan of the Steelers, Penguins, Pirates and Donnie Iris. I attended Penn State University and earned a BS in Civil Engineering. I later made a career change, and have thoroughly enjoyed the challenges and rewards of teaching.
Taptich Family ~ April 2023
Joey USMA Commissioning Ceremony ~ May 2023
I met my husband Dan at Penn State in surveying class. We live in the beautiful Big Valley of Belleville. We have a daughter, Anna, and a son, Joey. Anna graduated from Penn State in Kinesiology, and recently graduated from Slippery Rock University earning a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She is now employed by Fox Rehabilitation in Fort Worth, Texas. Joey completed one year at Penn State as a member of the Nittany Lion Battalion branch of ROTC, and then transferred to the United States Military Academy at West Point. He also recently graduated from USMA and is now stationed at Fort Lee (Fort Gregg-Adams) Command Post. His goal is to branch EOD. Golfing is a fun family sport, and I do my best to run/walk for exercise. We all enjoy caring for our dogs, Ike and Rosie, two horses and barn cats. In our spare time we also enjoy the outdoors ~ traveling, gardening, fishing and hunting. When I land, you'll find me cooking or reading a good book.
I will do my best this year to nurture and care for all students during their time with me. Caring for each other will be especially important as we continue to adjust to gathering back together after the isolating challenges of the past two years. As a classroom community, we will learn to respect and value individual differences and embrace kindness. I feel fortunate to be part of a dynamic and caring team at MNMS and look forward to making this year a worthwhile and meaningful experience.
