Buddies!

"Buddies" are awesome peers who join our classroom as supporters, advocates, encouragers and role models. Ultimately, though, as relationships develop and respect deepens,  the greatest role of a buddy is that of a true friend. Buddies have the opportunity to share their strengths and skills with each other and with peers who may need specific support or accommodation to enjoy life to the fullest. They also have the opportunity to learn about others who are "differently-abled" and amazing in so many surprising and wonderful ways.  We are thankful for these friends and our building's support for them, and for us.  Many enduring friendships have been born here!  What could be better?

Buddy benefits include: learning about others and themselves, developing friendships with peers (including differently-abled peers), and exploring their leadership strengths.Additionally, our buddies have opportunities to develop positive relationships with adults who support the program. We love that our friends consider our classroom their second "home."

Many middle school buddies choose to go on to the High School Best Buddies program and continue to develop relationships, self awareness, and leadership skills.  If you are a MNMS student and have questions about becoming a Buddy, or if you are just checking in to learn a little more, please come by room 131 to introduce yourself, email Ms. Pazak (lrp11),  visit your Guidance Counselor, or inquire with one of your teachers or Pride leaders.  We would be happy to meet you.

If you are a parent or colleague with questions, please feel free to contact Ms. Pazak (lrp11@scasd.org), your student's homeroom teacher, or your student's guidance counselor.
