Welcome to Mount Nittany Middle School and Room 122!  I can't wait to begin another fun and exciting school year!  The 2023-2024 school year will be my 22nd year teaching 6th grade, and I have loved every minute of it. I know that you will love 6th grade too!

I graduated from Penn State in Elementary Education in 2002, and I actually completed my student-teaching experience right here at Mount Nittany Middle School!  In 2005, I graduated with my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a Reading Specialist Certification.  As you can see, I love teaching and reading!

In my free time I love to read, exercise, travel, and spend time with my family and friends! My favorite 6th grade reads are currently The War That Saved My Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley and Ghost by Jason Reynolds. My favorite author for adults, who has more recently started writing for middle level readers, is James Patterson. Look for some of his middle level reads on our classroom library shelves or at the MNMS Library!

As a former member of the Penn State Women's Track and Field Team, exercise plays a major role in my life. Whether I am going for a run around town, attending classes at Orange Theory, playing volleyball, or tennis, I love being active. My newest athletic interest is pickleball, which I am starting to get the hang of!

Traveling is another favorite activity of mine. A few summers ago, I was fortunate enough to travel to Germany and Austria. I had the amazing opportunity to visit Stuttgart - home of the Mercedes Benz Factory, Rothenburg ob der Tauber - a medieval walled city, Schwangau - where the Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein Castles are nestled in the German Alps, Salzburg - where the Salzach River flows emerald green, and Munich - home to the famous Glockenspiel which chimes date back to 1908.

Finally, I love to spend time with my family and friends. My favorite fall activity is watching Penn State football, and my parents come up for almost every home game! My family still lives on Long Island, so I make sure to take time to visit them in NY as much as I can. We love to spend time at the beach, whether at Montauk Point - the easternmost tip of Long Island, or Lake George -  a 32-mile lake in the Adirondack Mountains.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention my "fur family", Slim and BK. Slim, on the left, will turn 9 this September, while BK, on the right, will turn 8. I can't wait to get to know everyone in Room 122!  It's going to be a great year!
