About me
I graduated from Penn State University in 2004 with a degree in Actuarial Science and worked as an Actuarial Analyst for Aetna, Inc. for two years. While I did enjoy my time with Aetna, I always felt that I could make a greater impact by being a teacher. I therefore decided to go back to Penn State for a year and earned my Secondary Mathematics Teaching Certification. My first teaching position was at Central Dauphin East High School in Harrisburg, PA. Towards the end of the school year, I married my husband (also a Penn State grad) as he was finishing up his medical school training at Penn State Hershey. He had signed up for an Army health professions scholarship so we relocated to Maryland during his residency in anesthesia where I worked at James Hubert Blake High School for the next four years. During my time there, I earned a Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from Johns Hopkins University. After his residency, we moved to North Carolina where I taught secondary math at Pinecrest High School. My husband completed this military commitment in May of 2016 and we decided to move back to the State College area where he works at Mount Nittany Medical Center. I currently have two children. My daughter Brynn is 12 and is in 7th grade at Mount Nittany Middle School and my son, Ethan, is nine and is in fourth grade at MNE. My husband and I are delighted to be part of such a wonderful community and look forward to raising our family as Little Lions.
This is my 13th year teaching secondary mathematics and my 8th year here at MNMS! I have taught a wide variety of courses during my career, which included Geometry, Honors Geometry, Advanced Algebra 1, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Honors Algebra 2, Advanced Math 7, and AP Statistics.
