Welcome to 6th Grade Science

We are going to have an exciting year in science class! We have a busy year ahead of us, which includes three science units: Living Things, Forces, and Space. All topics covered in this class will be based on the Next Generation Science Standards. Please become familiar with the following procedures of your science classroom.

Course Description

We will work through three science units during the school year. There will be a strong focus on class participation, peer work/sharing, and questioning which will guide the pace of the class.

Life Science: We will develop an understanding of how living things grow with a focus on cell theory.

Forces: We will develop an understanding of how forces work as they relate to an object's motion.

My Place In Space: We will develop an understanding of earth's orbit, seasons, space systems, moon phases, and gravity.

Projects – The point value will be determined when the project is assigned.

Warm-up and Notebook
- IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO GET MAKE-UP WORK FOR MISSED ASSIGNMENTS. Please make every effort to keep up to date with your assignments.
Materials:
*Each student should have a one inch binder with notebook paper OR a composition notebook. Students should come to class each day with a pencil and/or erasable pen (black or blue only). Be sure to come to class with a writing tool each day! Be sure to come to class with a charged Chromebook.
