Early Dismissal - State College Area School District requires a guardian's approval in the form of a  written note or email to dismiss a student early. These students need to pick up an Early Dismissal pass from the Attendance Office on the day of the early dismissal preferably before Period One.  It is very important to limit the calls to the classrooms which interrupts learning time. Upon the arrival of the guardian, the student will be sent out to their guardian's parked vehicle at the front entrance by the flagpole. If no note is given prior, the guardian should enter the front lobby, show identification, and fill out an Early Dismissal Excuse form. Staff will call your student down only after these requirements are met.

Absent - Please email a reason to excuse your students absence or log it into PowerSchool.  Please send an excuse with your child if you did not send an email. State law requires an excuse for all absences within 3 school days after the date of absence.

Late Unexcused - Students that arrive after 8:40 a.m. will be signed in and noted as late unexcused if they do not have a note. Please send your child in with a note, if possible, at any time. (Parent / Doctors Excuse) School doors open by 8:00 a.m.

* 3 unexcused absences may result in a 1st offense being filed and mailed to your home. - Please Review  Policy 204 Attendance

Educational Trips

Please fill out and send an Educational Trip Form to the Attendance Secretary listing the dates you are requesting as educational trip days (not to exceed 10 days in any academic year). These signed forms must be turned in to the Main Office to be reviewed by the Assistant Principal for approval.  If an absence of longer than 3 days is expected, the Attendance Secretary will email a google form to the student with all homework assignments.

Please note: The district sends automatic alerts to guardians about a student’s daily attendance. You will receive a notification to the designated guardian's email address.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Attendance Secretary, Ms. Crystal Cole
